  last week during bible highlights, a sister commented on leviticus 19:28 about not having a tattoo.

  i also commented, saying that we are not under the law, but the principle should be taken into consideration.. a sister i don't speak with very often called me.

  she is in the same congregation as some of my family.

  When the elders ask some of you fading sisters why you missed the meeting last week, you could tell them you're menstruating and are unclean to sit on any public chairs for a week. I'd love to see the look on their faces. Brothers could tell them they have a running discharge from their genitals and so were unclean to worship in God's house.

  Trivia: did you know that Julia Luis Dreyfuss is heir to a multi-billon dollar fortune? Her father is a french financier and is one of Forbes 500 richest men in the world! I believe she is also his only child, (but could possible be mistaken about that)

  FHN: It's great to appreciate all the people who agree with you and validate your belief system, however, I find I learn the most from people who challenge me to think outside of my current perspective. For myself, I consider that even more valuable and worth appreciating.

  Hey, we're talking about a group of people (myself included) who at one time say nothing rude about banging on their neighbours door at breakfast time, dinner time, or Christmas morning to tell them how they were all going to die if they didn't live their lives as we thought they should!

  We may have left JW doctrinal beliefs behind for other various beliefs, but a number of us have obviously held onto the belief that it is perfectly fine to aggressively foist onto others our views of how they should live.

  she starts out with some banal stuff about where they want to move, etc, then, she launches into this:.

  that brings up something i wanted to tell you in person but itseems that i am not going to be able to do that very soon.

  i amhoping to throw some light on what has happened within our familyesp during the time we were over there.. it has become very apparent to us now that during that time period from early spring on, in 200[x], satan launched an all-out attack on our family, son.

  I loved your reply letter. You spoke to the undercurrent of a mother's love for her son without validating any of her delusional ideas. You also calmly and respectfully set a firm boundary for yourself. Of course, she is a JW, so whether she respects that is anybody's guess. I might have thrown in a scripture after "life just happens", quoting "time and unforseen occurence befall us all". She wouldn't be able to argue that perspective because it's in her own bible! If you can reach them by using their frame of reference without having to take it on as your own, there is a greater liklihood of establishing some sort of respectful connection.
